Why Has Steel Always Been So Popular

Posted by  admin | May 26, 2020

For many years steel has been one of the most commonly used materials in the engineering and construction industries. Despite the emergence of different materials such as fibreglass that can do a good job, steel has remained in use around the world due to a range of benefits. In this blog we will talk about some of those benefits and why steel has always been so popular.

Eco-Friendly

With the worldwide climate concerns in recent years, more companies are looking to be on the right side of ethics and complete work as greenly as possible. Many “Green Builders” use steel in eco-friendly construction projects because of its incredible renewability. Unlike other recyclable materials such as plastic, steel doesn’t lose quality each time it is recycled. There is also much less waste associated with the use of steel, in comparison to materials like wood.

Durability

If you are going to put a lot of work and money into a project, you want to be able to ensure it can last for a long period of time. Steel is one of the toughest and most durable materials in the world, meaning you can rely on it heavily. A structure made from steel is unlikely to need repairing for many years.

Extra Convenience

For construction and engineering companies, steel is often the number one choice purely because of how convenient it is. It has a high level of ductility, meaning it can be easily moulded without too much hassle. Steel structures are also preferred when time span is small, as the construction rate is very fast. Another great advantage is that steel is less costly than a lot of materials.

Here at Steel Delivery we supply a range of steel to engineering companies across the North East. For more information give us a call on 0333 242 5189 or visit www.steeldelivery.co.uk
